Project WARM - Help the Homeless

We are helping with an outreach to the homeless that will take place on February 14-21, 2010, at Patuxent Presbyterian Church. Project WARM is an ecumenical effort where various congregations help provide shelter for the homeless this winter. WARM is modeled after similar programs in Charles and Calvert Counties. The host site is rotating among various congregations from December through March. The guests will be served a supper and a breakfast before leaving the host site each day
Patuxent Presbyterian Church will be a host site for a small group of homeless men for the week of February 14-21. Since we cannot be a host facility, we have joined together with Pax Presbyterian to help these men. Between the two churches we need about 15 people per night to provide hospitality, 2 shifts of night monitors, dinner, and breakfast.
Please consider how you may give of your time to help in this very worthwhile cause. You can sign up in the lobby at PRAG or call Timothy at the church.

E-Giving is here!

Are you to the point where the only checks you actually write are to the church? PRAG is now offering e-giving as an option to paying your tithes, offerings, and special gifts. Simply go to our website, and click on the e-giving link on the left side of the home page, and it will take you to the sign-up page for E-Giving. When you sign-up, there is a pdf file that gives detailed instructions if you need them. However, the process is simple to use and very intuitive if you take the time to read through each screen. We have limited the transaction type to checking/savings account ACH (automated clearing house) only.We did not want to encourage credit card giving so that is not available when you sign up. By keeping transactions limited to EFT (electronic fund transfers), it also eliminates all the fees the credit card companies would charge us for processing. You will have full access to your transactions and records at all times. An e-mail notification is sent to you when the transaction is initiated and when it actually clears your bank. Staff members have been using it and it has worked seamlessly with no problems. You can give at any frequency you desire, or if your contributions do not change you can set it up to give for a defined period or indefinitely. When you are out of town, your contributions will continue without pause. If you are a regular e-giver, you can still participate in the offertory part of the worship service by filling in the details on your envelope as normal and put "E-gift" on the blank line instead of the dollar amount.

Winning at Work and Home, a 16-session study, focuses on the two areas
that are central to a man's life: career and family. It will begin to
build the walls of manhood through study dealing with a man's chief
responsibilities. It explores how a man can enjoy and engage his work
and how he can relate to a woman in a whole new way.

Join our new Sewing Project! We have a request for quilts for orphans in Guatemala. If you want to learn to sew, have some good fellowship, and make a difference in a baby’s life, come work with us. Also, check your scrap box for usable cottons; we especially need donations of flannel to be used instead of batting for light-weight quilts. We meet downstairs in the Great Room at 6:30 PM on Tuesdays. Call Molly Frink for details.
